I ordered the new handle via Amazon and it didn’t fix the problem. I’m going to the salvage yard this week to find this reinforcement part. Unless I’m missing something, I suppose I’ll have to remove the reinforcement and the lock to replace the little arm or actuator thing, as well as if I replace the original reinforcement with the salvage part. Is that correct or did I miss a shortcut? I’m barely a DIY guy, but I am not willing to shell out $200+ on my old ‘07 Focus hoopty.

The valve adjusters have a spring and filled with oil from the motor, I've noticed a bad lifter will have a little expansion if you pull on the nipple part and if the spring inside doesn't have any expansion as well.

Easier way is to heat the steering cover so it's a bit stretchy and it's done

Had the battery disconnected for replacement of the steering wheel clock spring on our Australian 2005 RAV4 and after reconnecting the battery the car had the low idle issue which the procedure in this video fixed. Would like to point out that some similar video say to turn the key on / off and start on the 3rd time, but for our RAV4 starting on the 2nd key on / off turn was correct for the engine idle relearn procedure.
